RIP Visceral. We’ll just start off there. EA decided to kill one of their brightest and best game studios. So with that out of the way, Dead Space is getting a remake from EA Motive. During their EA Play Live 2021 event, they confirmed a remake of the 2008 horror game for the next-gen consoles and PC. There was no release date announced or a release window. We did get a small trailer showing off what the game looks like in it’s current state.
Here’s the official description from EA:
The sci-fi survival horror classic Dead Space returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up by Motive Studios to offer a deeper and more immersive experience. Harnessing the power of the Frostbite game engine and next generation consoles, this remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity and improvements to gameplay while staying true to the original. Dead Space will be available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The game follows engineer Isaac Clark on a ship that’s in need of repairs, the USG Ishimura. Only when he arrives on the ship, something is horribly awry. Everyone on board has been slaughtered and infected by an alien scourge. So instead of going Aliens on the entire thing, you have to use the tools at Isaac’s disposal to fight the scourge and find his partner, Nicole.
It was one of the best survival horror games on the Xbox 360/PS3 and now it’s coming back for next-generation consoles. One can only imagine the scares and graphical upgrade these new consoles will give this classic game.
We’ll keep you updated on this as it develops.
