The most dedicated spooksters are Halloween-ready year-round.

And they start planning their epically scary October in advance. If you frequent events like Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights and Six Flags’ Fright Fest, listen up! You can snag a sneak peek at this Halloween’s biggest events—plus celebrate horror favorites and grab awesome merch—during this year’s Midsummer Scream!

Midsummer Scream’s pop-up event Awaken the Spirits! Heads to the Pasadena Convention Center August 14-15. The experience is perfect for horror fanatics, with an impressive lineup of panels and events planned.

Saturday, August 14 highlights include presentations by Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, the Winchester Mystery House, the LA Haunted Hayride, and Delusion: Reaper’s Remorse. The day also kicks off with a 20th anniversary celebration of Thir13en Ghosts, featuring special guests Erik Olsen (producer), Howard Berger and Norman Cabrera (Special Makeup Effects designers), and John Frizell (composer).

Sunday, August 15 highlights include presentations from Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest; voice and mo-cap cast from the best-selling horror video game Resident Evil: Village; a 30th anniversary retrospective of legendary home haunt Rotten Apple 907; and a deep dive into how Epic Entertainment and Mycotoo (the teams behind Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor) bring horrifying creature and stories to life.

Both Saturday and Sunday conclude with a special 60-minute “Home Haunt Update,” featuring different Halloween attractions across Southern California and exploring their “comeback” plans for 2021. And of course, attending for either or both days will give horror fans access to the sprawling show floor. That means over 200 spooky vendors, plus a special experience from Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights.
