How did you think that Deadpool would join the MCU? Maybe a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Or whenever we get the X-Men? Well you’re wrong. It’s in a reaction video for the new movie Free Guy. Free Guy comes out in theaters August 13th.
The video stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Taika Waititi as Korg. It pokes fun at the massive sale of 20th Century Fox to Disney, and Reynolds’s Deadpool is the only confirmed character crossing over to the MCU so far. It might not be the massive cameo that we were all expecting, but this is what we’ve got. And really, what else were you expecting from Deadpool?
As for when we can expect a Deadpool movie in the MCU, that answer is a bit murkier. Kevin Feige and Co. are tight lipped about the whole thing, but it’s going to be R-rated at the very least. Feige told Collider a bit about the film and when we can expect it.
It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.
