The passing of Chadwick Boseman one year later is still a deep and heartbreaking loss. His work was a gift, as many Marvel fans still keep his image alive. Chad passed away from his battle with colon cancer at the age of 43. Now Marvel Studios is looking ahead as the cameras have started shooting for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Filming has started in Atlanta, Georgia at Pinewood Studios for the next installment. Ryan Coogler is back as the director and writer. Some of the sequel details were shared and how Marvel Studios will proceed without Chad.
Marvel Studios boss, Kevin Feige shared more on the subject:
“It’s clearly very emotional without Chad,” Feige said before the “Black Widow” Global Fan Event in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. “But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.

Boseman’s performance for the first Black Panther in 2018 was a revelation. His work captivated people with his commitment to the character, in terms of representation and a hero. Before Boseman‘s passing, sequel plans were in talks. As of now, the sequel is looking ahead for a Summer 2022 release date. Many fans were under the suspicion he would be CGI’ed in. Feige debunked that claim earlier this year, reported by Deadline.
The original cast is returning for the sequel; Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Daniel Kaluuya, and more to come back. Plot details are being kept under wraps. The future of Black Panther looking ahead is also getting a television series. As part of a multi-year agreement with Coogler with Proximity Media and Disney that revealed earlier this year.
