Comic-Con International is taking things virtual again this year… And we’ve just learned that Snake Eyes will officially kick Comic-Con @ Home! Mari Takahashi will host the panel featuring the new G.I. Joe film. The program will include “special content from the upcoming movie as well as behind-the-scenes footage. Capping it off are exclusive interviews with stars Henry Golding, Andrew Koji, Úrsula Corberó, Samara Weaving, and more!

Snake Eyes
Henry Golding plays Snake Eyes in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins from Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Skydance.

The announcement further tells us that fans will get an early sneak peek at the new Snake Eyes backstory film, too. The Paramount/MGM/Skydance collaboration will screen in ten select cities first on July 10, three days ahead of the full, theatrical release. Those cities are: Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Miami, San Diego, Houston, Phoenix and Vancouver.

Snake Eyes to start off Comic-Con @ Home

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins stars Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.

The film will feature several other, familiar, G.I. Joe characters. You can’t have Snake Eyes without Storm Shadow, of course. Scarlet and the Baroness will make appearances in the film, as well. You can see how those characters will leap from comic page to screen in the featurettes above.

Snake Eyes will buck the recent trend of movies’ duel release to theaters and streaming at the same time. (See, for example, Black Widow.) The film will be a theater-exclusive, beginning July 23rd. The time and date of the Comic-Con @ Home panel is still to be determined.
