Microsoft had a bit to show for themselves with their E3 conference. Fans want to see the fruits of their time and money spent on exclusive games for their platform. Microsoft and Xbox did not disappoint.
They led the show with Starfield, the new game from Bethesda. That sci-fi epic releases 11.22.22 for the Xbox exclusively. From there it was a series of trailers and announcements. Luckily for us, there wasn’t much time in between trailers. They went to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Back 4 Blood, Fallout 76, Elder Scrolls Online, Psychonauts 2, and much more. Seeing as how we got the new consoles last year, we could finally focus on the games.
What About Halo: Infinite?
Halo: Infinite was the big story from last year’s Games Showcase. It didn’t meet the standards of what people and the team at 343 Studios were expecting. So the game was delayed into 2021. That looks like it’s for the best, because what we saw in the trailers for the campaign and multiplayer, the game looks absolutely thrilling. The game’s multiplayer will be free to play and cross-platform. The campaign launches the same day as the multiplayer.
Master Chief is back with a new AI and some issues with Cortana. If there’s one thing that Halo knows how to do, it’s evoke emotion. It’s the 20th anniversary of both Xbox and Halo this year. Halo Infinite comes this Holiday season.
Finally Sea Of Thieves Adds Pirates Of The Caribbean!
The long-standing issue with Sea Of Thieves is that the game has some super high quality visuals, but not enough to do. With this new update coming later in June, we’re finally getting some story-based content. Teaming with Disney, they’re releasing Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life. The new content pack gives us 5 tales to play through and live out some of those great moments from the movie franchise.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Looks Tremendous
We finally got a release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 at the conference as well. Coming April 28th, 2022, the next sequel in the highly successful shooter series continues the story. Gunplay and customization are the keys here, so look out for this one on the Xbox Series X/S next year.
The Outer Worlds II For Xbox!
Well that trailer wasn’t what I was expecting live. It looked like it could have been Fable, or maybe the developers of No Man’s Sky making fun of themselves, it turns out it was The Outer Worlds 2. The first game was fantastic and gave us the flavor of those classic Fallout games with a new coat of paint and gameplay. Here’s hoping the sequel can be even better than the first.
Forza Horizon 5 Continues To Outdo The Original Series
I’m not one for racing games really, but the Forza Horizon games sort of change that dynamic. You can just explore the map in whatever cars you want. This time around they have a new story-mode based around finding new locales for the Horizon Festival. Mexico is the setting for the new game, and it looks to continue the lush, beautiful, locales of the Horizon series.
Arkane Studios Creates A New IP, Exclusive To Xbox
The studio behind Prey and Dishonored, among other great games, is back with a new IP that’s exclusive to the Xbox. RedFall comes to Xbox, next Summer 2022. Vampire hunting anyone?
