Netflix renewed their fantasy series Shadow and Bone for a season two this morning! The show, which is based on the Grishaverse novels by Leigh Bardugo, is smashing Netflix records in it’s first season. Across the world, it’s had over 55 million households watch the show in it’s first 28 days. It made the Netflix top 10 in 93 countries and hit #1 in 79 of them. The original books in the Shadow and Bone trilogy and Six of Crows duology returned to the bestseller lists due to the popularity of the show.
The new season will feature 8 brand-new 1 hour episodes. Showrunner, writer, and executive producer Eric Heisserer had this to say:
I’m honored and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo.
Author and executive producer Leigh Bardugo had this to say:
I’ve been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly ten years now, so I’m thrilled we get to keep this adventure going. There are so many places we’ve barely gotten to visit and I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes, and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It’s going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand.
So, What About The Cast?
Following this news, the principle cast are all returning. Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Ben Barnes (General Kirigan), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik) and Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar) are all reprising their roles.
