Slumber Party Massacre is a pretty seminal classic in the world of horror. It might not be the best horror flick out there, but it laid groundwork for other films after it. Now, according to Deadline, SYFY and Shout! Studios are bringing a remake of the film to life. The new film, a “reimagining”, comes from The Banana Splits Movie director Danishka Esterhazy with Suzanne Keilly writing the script.
Hannah Gonera, Frances Sholto-Douglas, Mila Rayne, Alex McGregor, and Reze-Tiana Wessels star in the upcoming film. Roger Corman was the brain behind the original film. Shout! recently acquired the New Horizon Picture film library which contains 270 of Corman’s films.
Brent Haynes, Shout’s Head of Original Content Development had this to say about the deal.
Remaking one of the seminal films of Roger Corman and Amy Holden Jones’ early work is exciting and audacious. But there are no better hands in which to place this challenge to Danishka Esterhazy, Suzanne Keilly, and the team at Blue Ice Pictures. Their creative vision will both honor the Corman ethos and captivate today’s audiences.

So far, that’s all we know about the Slumber Party Massacre, including how faithful it’ll be to the original source material. It’s out on SYFY later this year, so look out for it.
