The video game world was set aflame a couple months ago with the news that Microsoft was acquiring Bethesda and it’s huge catalog of games. Now, because of various legal dealings, the deal is finalized. Questions still remain about what exactly the deal means for other consoles and the Bethesda games. Are they going to be fully exclusive to Microsoft platforms? What about timed exclusives? According to GamesBeat, a presentation is planned for March 11th.
Their report states that we’re less likely to get specifics about games, and more a generalized look at how Bethesda and Xbox Game Pass with coexist. Game Pass is a huge part of Microsoft’s plan going forward with Xbox, so it would make sense to put the two together.
Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer mentioned Game Pass plenty of times in their announcement (linked above) on the Bethesda acquisition. Here’s what Spencer had to say.
Thank you to all our players for joining us on this incredible journey and to the millions of Bethesda fans around the world. Now that we’re one team, we can start working together on the future ahead. We will have more to share about what’s next for our teams later this year. In the meantime, to properly celebrate this special moment, we are bringing additional Bethesda games into Xbox Game Pass later this week. Stay tuned for more details!
