Tina, an HBO documentary chronicling the life of the legendary Tina Turner, debuts this March.

The film takes an intimate look at the life and career of the music icon, charting her rise to fame and her personal and professional struggles throughout life. The documentary features interviews with Turner herself, as well as those closest to her. You can also catch never-before-seen-footage, audio recordings, and personal photos that delve deep into the star’s life.

In addition to archival footage spanning 60 years, the documentary includes interviews with widely recognizable figures who know Turner personally. Expect to see Angela Bassett and Oprah Winfrey amid the celeb appearances. Plus, Tina talks to others who have worked to chronicle the star’s life, from journalist Kurt Loder (author of I, Tina) and playwright Katori Hall (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical).

The documentary covers the highs and lows of Turner’s life, from her early hits like “Proud Mary” and the abuse she suffered from then husband Ike Turner, to her divorce and Las Vegas variety show days, to her incredible ‘80s comeback with “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” Tina celebrates the performer’s immense talent, her improbable journey to global stardom, and her embrace of her status as a beloved and respected survivor.

Tina comes from an award-winning production team, so expect this one to impress. Directed by Oscar winners Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin, the film comes from Lightbox production company. Tina premieres March 27 at 8pm on HBO, and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
