The latest and final Rebuild of Evangelion anime film just got a new TV spot. It’s too bad that it’ll be a while before we see it though.
The latest TV spot for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time shows a rather…confusing set of footages. We see Shinji, and then a screaming Asuka, and then a grinning Mari. Then we see some kind of gothic-looking ship that wouldn’t be out of place in a Warhammer 40,000 story rising up from some kind of white surface, breaking through it. Then we get a pool of clear water (shocking for Evangelion fans), along with a floating transmission tower slowly tumbling in the air. Kaworu comes next, and then we see Asuka’s Eva grab some kind of double-ended chainsaw-staff thing thrown by Mari’s Eva. Said staff would get an approving nod from Darth Maul, methinks.
And the whole time during this Evangelion TV spot, there’s a rather peaceful song playing in the background. Soundtrack dissonance, anyone?
Evangelion: We Are (Not) Late
All in all, that TV spot was basically a Tuesday for a Rebuild of Evangelion film. The real question now is: when we will get to see it? Well, it was set to premier in Japan on January 23, 2021, but COVID-19 had something to say about that.
Japan’s State of Emergency definitely put a plug on those plans. Now Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time‘s theatrical release has been pushed back to 2021. Yeah, just 2021. No specifics.
Guess we’ll just have to wait for the conclusion of Rebuild of Evangelion some more. Again. And hopefully, we’ll maybe get to see it this year.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time just got a brand new TV spot with new footage from the anime film. Unfortunately, it’s also a bit of a sugar pill to assuage us at this point. Seeing as how the release date was pushed back to 2021, without any specific date in mind. Well, time to go to sleep like Shinji did, and wait for the last chapter in Rebuild of Evangelion to arrive. Eventually. We are (not) patient.
