Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California has been closed since the very early days of the pandemic. California’s rules and programs in place for the pandemic are much more strict than that of DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida. Because of this closure, Disney and Disney Parks have probably had some time to think about current policies at their parks. One policy that’s incredibly popular is the Annual Pass program. For a larger fee, you get basically what amounts to an “anytime” pass (besides blackout days and holidays). This was a way for Southern California residents and people to not have to pay the pretty exorbitant prices for a single-day ticket.
Now it looks like Disney is phasing that program out. According to Disneyland, they’re ending the program immediately.
But don’t fret, they don’t have a current plan in place that they’re ready to announce, but something similar is on it’s way. For those with Annual Passes right now, you can get a refund at Disneyland.com/PassportRefund.
Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock had this to say:
We want to thank our Annual Passholders for their understanding during this closure period. Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations around the reopening of our California theme parks, we will be issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort Annual Passports and sunsetting the current program. We are currently developing new membership offerings that will utilize consumer insights to deliver choice, flexibility and value for our biggest fans.
If you’re an Annual Pass holder, you should be receiving information over email about what to do and how this whole process will go.
We’ll keep you updated on the plans and what’s ahead for the Annual Pass program.
