Crank the MCR (or the Tiffany). Netflix just officially renewed The Umbrella Academy for season 3.
Series regular cast members will reprise their roles, including Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. EP/showrunner Steve Blackman also stays on board.
The Umbrella Academy is a live-action superhero series based on the Dark Horse comics created and written by Gerard Way. The series proved a major hit for Netflix. TUA was the platform’s third-most watched series in 2019. The second season also earned the honor of ranking Neilsen’s first Streaming Top 10.
The first season of The Umbrella Academy finds the Hargreeves siblings reuniting to try to stop the apocalypse. They uh…don’t quite manage that. So Five uses his time-travel powers to send them all back in time to try again. But season 2 reveals the siblings didn’t all go back to quite the same point in time. And they’re being hunted by assassins. Oh, and doomsday is still happening. (Talk about not catching a break.)
It’s too early to get a release date, but we do know The Umbrella Academy begins production on season 3 in February. Fans can expect 10 episodes in the new season.
Meanwhile, if you want to celebrate the new season now, Netflix offered up another treat. You can now set your Netflix profile pic to one of the Hargreeves siblings. (Or Pogo, if that’s your thing.)
