Prince Of Darkness

We’re no strangers to the majesty and wonder that comes with a Scream/Shout Factory announcement. It’s like Christmas every time they announce a new round of Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray videos. This time around it’s a new edition of John Carpenter’s classic, Prince of Darkness. Now if you’re sitting wondering, “well what about my 2013 Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray?”. Don’t be worried, because this is a brand new 4K transfer of the original film. All the extras from that edition will be included in addition to the 4K transfer and updated audio tracks. The new 4K release comes out on January 19th, 2021!

If you pre-order, you’ll also get an exclusive 18” x 24” rolled poster reproduction of the original theatrical art. These posters will be extremely limited, so you’ll have to pre-order to guarantee getting one. If that wasn’t enough, there’ll be a special collector’s package (collector’s edition to go with your collector’s package) version. This version includes the poster and a new exclusive 7″ Sacred Bones record, while supplies last.

The 7″ on exclusive white and red splatter vinyl via Sacred Bones features music from Prince of Darkness composed by John Carpenter and recorded by John, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies. The A-side includes the 2017 version of the main title and the B-side contains a never-before-released recording of “Love at a Distance” recorded by the trio in 2020. The white and red splatter vinyl variant is a limited edition of 2,000 copies. It’s housed in a lavish slipcase with new art by frequent Carpenter collaborator Chris Bilheimer.

Prince Of Darkness Is A Carpenter Classic

In a sea of great movies by the Master of Horror, John Carpenter, some of them get lost. Prince of Darkness is one of those films. It stars Donald Pleasence, Jameson Parker, Lisa Blount, Alice Cooper, and more. The film is about the battle between good and the ultimate evil. A canister of pure satanic evil is found in a Church basement. The liquid comes alive and turns people into zombie-like creatures. It turns out that the liquid is the Son of Satan, and it’s going to bring upon the end of the world unless our protagonists can stop it.

It’s a long-lost classic from Carpenter that is highly due for a 4K upgrade. So if you’re rocking a brand new 4K TV, this is definitely a pickup for you.

You can pre-order it right here.
