Get ready to follow Lyra and her daemon into a new world. HBO just announced His Dark Materials season 2 will debut in November.
The season 2 premiere drops November 16, so mark your calendars. (Also, long-time HBO viewers should note this is a Monday, not HBO’s usual Sunday content drop.)
Here’s the official season 2 description for His Dark Materials from HBO:
Season two of His Dark Materials begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. In a strange and mysterious abandoned city she meets Will, a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.
The second season will see the return of several familiar faces, including Dafne Keen as Lyra, Amir Wilson as Will, and Ruth Wilson as Mrs. Coulter. Ariyon Bakare, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas, and Lin-Manuel Miranda also return.
Andrew Scott’s cameo as Will’s father turns into a full-fledged role in the second season. (Also, his daemon will be voiced by Scott’s Fleabag costar, Phoebe Waller-Bridge.) Plus, Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka, and Simone Kirby join the cast this season.
