During an interview with Yahoo this week, Natalie Portman confirmed some plot details for the upcoming Thor movie.
Portman played Jane Foster in Thor and Thor: The Dark World. After being absent for the most recent installment Ragnarok, she’s set to reprise her role in the upcoming Love and Thunder.
Thor fans have been especially excited about the prospect of Portman’s return due to speculation that the fourth movie in the series will adapt “The Mighty Thor” comic arc. Portman’s interview seems to confirm this theory.
“I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them there are, the better it is. I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of The Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side,” Portman said.
That’s right – Thor: Love and Thunder will see Jane Foster take up the Thor mantle herself, all while battling cancer.
Director Taika Waititi previously alluded to the fact that he was adapting the Mighty Thor arc. However, he also cautioned fans that specific plot elements could change. Regardless, fans of Portman and her character will no doubt be excited to see Jane take on the superhero role.
With the COVID pandemic, Marvel had to shuffle much of its feature film slate. Several previously announced films have already been pushed back. Thor: Love and Thunder hasn’t yet started filming. Most likely, the movie will enter production sometime in early 2021.
So, are you excited for Waititi to adapt the Mighty Thor comics? How about to see Portman jump into the superhero role? Let us know in the comments.
