Resident Evil

We all know how people feel about the Resident Evil films. You either hate them with a burning hot, red, intense passion. Or you find them to be entertaining, yet flawed films. This new reboot/origin/whatever else you want to call it, is changing the dynamic. Constantin Film is bringing the new regime on the franchise. Deadline had the story first. The story, written by Johannes Roberts, is more closely tied to the original Capcom horror games. So get strapped in, because here’s the cast.

Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) is playing Claire Redfield. Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine. Robbie Amell (Babysitter and Babysitter: Killer Queen) is playing Chris Redfield. Tom Hopper (Umbrella Academy) is playing the villainous Albert Wesker. Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) is Leon S. Kennedy. Finally, Neal McDonough is playing William Birkin.

Roberts had this to say about the upcoming film.

With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.

Johannes Roberts

This sure looks like they’re finally going to do the games right. It’s a solid start for what could be a fantastic horror/action film. The first *SIX* Resident Evil films were stylish and action-filled. They just weren’t very faithful to the original source material. I can picture all of these actors as the original characters.

So, what do you think of this cast? Are you excited for this new reboot?
