A new coven has arrived for a new generation of viewers. Blumhouse’s continuation of The Craft just released a trailer.
The Craft: Legacy, much like its predecessor, follows a group of four teenage witches exploring their newfound powers. Check out the first trailer for the supernatural thriller below.
The trailer introduces us to the new coven, starring Cailee Spaeny (Bad Times at the El Royale), Gideon Adlon (Blockers), Lovie Simone (Greenleaf), and Zoey Luna (Pose).
It also includes a number of references to the original film, including an updated “light as a feather, stiff as a board” scene. Plus, we also catch a glimpse of original Craft star Fairuza Balk in a polaroid photo.
However, that’s pretty much where the similarities end. I have to say, this trailer isn’t really what I expected when I heard Blumhouse was behind the project. I guess I anticipated something…darker? Scarier? More intense? But that’s not really the vibe the trailer gives off. The Craft: Legacy looks a lot more CW than Blumhouse based on this first look.
Even this poster seems more aligned to my expectations. (And not aligned with the actual content in the trailer.)
But I guess there’s nothing to do but wait and see how it turns out.
The film was written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones. Michelle Monaghan and David Duchovny also star.
The Craft: Legacy hits VOD just in time for Halloween on October 28.
So, what do you think about the trailer? Will you give The Craft: Legacy a try?
