This one is pretty big if it’s true. Sony and Square Enix have had a fruitful partnership since the original Playstation. In a new leak from Navtra, a leaker who has had some good information in the past, they state that Final Fantasy XVI will be exclusive to the PS5 for some time. In addition to this information, they said that the game was slated to be shown at last months Sony Games Showcase, but it got pulled at the last minute.

Final Fantasy XVI is real. It was supposed to get announced in June’s event. It’s supposedly closer than most people would think. It has some kind of PS5 exclusivity (it was vague back then but it seems to be full timed exclusivity now). And I have no idea why they haven’t announced it yet.

Can This Be Trusted And What Does This Mean For PS5 and Final Fantasy VXI?

This leaker has had some good information in the past including many details about the games in that conference from June. This of course, is not an official source though. So take this one with some skepticism until we see anything official. Like the leak earlier today of the Black DualSense Controller, Sony doesn’t comment on leaks. If this is true, it’s a major blow to the Xbox Series X. A game series like Final Fantasy doesn’t mean as much these days. But it still holds weight among the RPG community. It also will be a main-series game and not an MMO like previous installments in the series.

We’ll figure out more about Sony’s plan for the Playstation 5 this month. They’re having another Showcase for the PS5 later in August. Hopefully there, we can find out when the console is coming out and how much it will cost. Seeing as how we’re only around three months from a prospective launch for both the Xbox Series X and the Playstation 5, it’s running a bit late for these announcements.

What do you think about this timed exclusive? I hate how game companies do this nowadays, because it just leads to stupid console wars. We all love gaming, and should enjoy it. Who cares if someone is playing on the PS5, the Switch, or the Sega Saturn. It’s all gaming, and it’s all good.
