A brand new feature of the upcoming PS5 appears to have been leaked on Twitter. This truly is the month of leakage.

PS5 made a boo-boo.
Uh oh, what have you done now?

Tweaked?

A small but significant feature of the PS5 appears to have been leaked on Twitter. Although, it wasn’t originally the source. The true source was actually Gamereactor‘s preview of WRC 9: which will be the official tie-in game to the 2020 World Rally Championship. However, it appears that Gamereactor didn’t actually have permission to release this bit of info, and promptly took down the article. However, they weren’t prompt enough. Gematsu managed to capture a screenshot of the info before the article vanished from the web. Thank you, Gematsu, for your prompt action.

Extreme ultra super late screenshotting!

So what’s this accidentally leaked info someone managed to capture? Well, the PS5 will now have an “Activities” feature. This new feature will apparently allow gamers to jump directly to specific parts of a game straight from the menu. Presumably, this would bypass the game’s usual loading screen and the need to navigate from the game’s own menu. In the case of WRC 9, players will be able to jump directly to specific races within the game from the PS5’s menu screen.

Other than that, we don’t know much about this PS5 Activities feature. Heck, we don’t even know if that Gamereactor article was accurate info or not. The article has been archived, but who knows how long it will remain so? It’s entirely possible the archived article will get copyright-struck and thus vanish permanently this time. Thus, we’ll have no way of verifying the article’s authenticity. Some salt, anyone?

An image of a humble salt miner.
Salt for your rumors?

Sony thus far has not commented on this leak, and it seems unlikely that they’ll do so. Any reply could accidentally reveal even more details on the PS5 before it launches. Thus, it’s in Sony’s best interests here to just stay silent.

Conclusion

A bit of info about a new feature for the PS5 has been leaked. It’s a small bit of info, and there’s no follow up for obvious reasons, but it’s out now. Now we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. The PS5 will launch Holiday 2020, so we might not have long to wait.
