As Hollywood productions begin to pick up DC’s Black Adam, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, looks to begin production in 2021.
Back To Work
Earlier this year the coronavirus pandemic shut down film and television productions across the world. Months later productions are finally starting to resume. Productions like Avatar 2, which are filming abroad in countries where the virus is now under control, have already resumed filming. Meanwhile within the US studios and creatives have worked with health officials to draw up safety guidelines for how to resume filming without putting anyone at risk.
The Rock’s Schedule
Black Adam was set to begin production in the summer. But when the pandemic hit Hollywood the start date was pushed back. Now we finally have an idea when production may resume. According to The Hollywood Reporter Johnson is preparing to get back to filming numerous projects. Starting with finishing production on Red Notice for Netflix, which is expected to resume later this year. This means Black Adam will begin production either later 2020 or, more likely, in 2021.
Black Adam
Whenever cameras start rolling on Black Adam the film is already in the midst of pre-production. The script by Adam Sztykiel is ready to go with Jaume Collett-Serra signed on to direct. The film will include the Justice Society of America and is rumored to be set in the 50s or 60s. Casting for the JSA is already underway with Noah Centineo landing the role of Atom Smasher. There may be more casting news and plot confirmations will be revealed at DC Fandome next month. And even if there is not there should be more news and revelations as production begins later this year, or next.
