Moon Prism Power, Make Up! Die-hard Sailor Moon fans will love to hear they can now transform into the Sailor Guardian for their wedding day.
The Sailor Moon Wedding Collection comes from Tokyo-based bridal shop Mariarosa. Mariarosa developed the collection under the guidance of series creator Naoko Takeuchi. Basically, this isn’t just some crescent moon imagery stitched into a wedding dress. The collection aims to draw directly from the much beloved manga/anime to create unique pieces fans will love. The full lineup includes six dresses as well as two tuxedos.
Sailor Moon Dresses
Most notably, Mariarosa created a Princess Serenity dress that perfectly matches the one Usagi/Serena wears in the manga and anime. The dress features a flowing empire cut with cap sleeves and intricate beading across the chest. The Princess Serenity outfit is one of the most iconic in the Sailor Moon series. Check out the side-by-side below:
Next up, the Sailor Moon dress, featuring a traditional ball gown style silhouette. This one comes in two versions. Brides can keep the Sailor Moon reference subtle, with a traditional white gown covered with the celestial marks the Sailor Senshi…or they can go all-out with the blue skirt and red bow overlay mimicking Sailor Moon’s classic crime-fighting look.
More Dresses
If you don’t mind straying from the traditional white dress on your wedding day, three other dresses pay tribute to other Sailor Moon characters.
First up, the Five Sailor Senshi and Sailor Chibi Moon Image Dress. Another ball gown style cut, this dress features a watercolor painting-like blend of the main Sailor Scouts (Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter).
Next, the other scouts get their tribute with the Four Outer Senshi Image Dress. This dress features a white top half that fades into the colors of the outer planet Sailor Scouts (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto).
Last up – and I’ll admit, this one is a bit niche – the collection has a dress that pays tribute to Luna the cat’s human form. This look feels more like a costume than a wedding dress (but it would be a cool costume). It features a dark purple tulle ball gown with an asymmetrical yellow bodice overlay.
Tuxedos
Finally, the collection offers up two tuxedo options: the collarless embroidered jacket worn by Mamoru opposite Princess Serenity; and the classic Tuxedo Mask look, complete with dramatic red-lined cape.
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to transform into Princess Serenity just yet. The dresses are currently only being rented out of the Tokyo fashion house – they’re not available for purchase. (Although if the demand is there, hopefully Mariarosa would consider a sale line in the future.)
