Sacramento, directed by Michael Angarano, follows the journey of Rickey (Michael Angarano). Rickey is a lively and free-spirited man who, after the death of his father, convinces his longtime friend Glenn (Michael Cera) to embark on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Frustrated with Rickey’s refusal to grow up, Glenn is hesitant at first but, encouraged by his pregnant wife Rosie (Kristen Stewart), decides to take the trip in hopes of reconnecting with his friend and himself.
The road trip, set in the worn yellow seats of Glenn’s old college convertible, serves as a backdrop for the two men to confront the anxieties and unresolved issues that have been weighing them down. Along the way, Rickey and Glenn address past mistakes, reflect on their strained friendship, and grapple with their uncertain futures. The film explores themes of growth, friendship, and the complex transition from youth to adulthood.
