Devil May Cry is one of the hottest upcoming anime series Studio Mir has in store for us in the near future. Fans of the video game series of the same name from Capcom will know what to expect. For those who aren’t fans: it’s a whole lot of sleek gunplay and insane action sequences mixed in with the lamest one-liners in existence and a fascinating obsession with pizza. Most of which come from the series’ main character, Dante.

Netflix knows perfectly well just how famous all of those elements are, including Dante himself. They know just how much fans of the games want to see him. Thus, it perfectly explains why they chose to release a brand new sneak peek trailer on YouTube, which you can see below:

The only thing missing from this scene is the pizza.

He looks a lot worse than he actually is.

As you can see, Netflix promises lots of gunplay with Devil May Cry, and their sneak peek trailer appears to deliver. In fact, Dante shows off his gunslinging skills in more than one way. Not only do we get to see Matrix-like gun fu, with Dante popping off rounds into the demons’ weak points at point-blank range, but we even get to see how accurate he is when he shoots a demon in the head after it tries to use its victim as a human shield.

Interestingly, this also shows off just how reckless and self-confident Dante canonically is. He believes in his own gun fu so much that he’s willing to take risks even with a hostage like this. Even complete with his attempt at a one-liner that he fails miserably, and then tries to salvage even more miserably. So much so that even the hostage is exasperated. Let’s just say that it’s all a good indicator that Netflix intends to be very faithful to Dante’s video game depiction.

What do you all think? Does this Dante seem like the pizza-munching fool we all know and love? Or does his performance come off as just a bit too forced for your liking? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

You can watch Devil May Cry on April 3, 2025, only on Netflix.
