Doctor Who is bringing back Alan Cumming for a surprising guest role. Disney+ announced the fan-favorite actor’s return this morning. Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu are off in another adventure on the TARDIS. But, a cheerful cartoon character voiced by Cumming will be along for the ride for the season premiere.

Mr. Ring-a-Ding’s visual style will be a delight for fans of the wilder elements of last season. Get ready for more amazing sights and sounds on Doctor Who Saturday April 12 on Disney+. Davies says that he’s absolutely thrilled to have a familiar face back.

“Only Alan Cumming could give a runaway cartoon so much wit, malice, danger and fun,” Davies began. “He makes the whole universe of Doctor Who wilder and madder than ever, and it’s an absolute honor to welcome him on board the TARDIS.”

Disney+ describes the show: “The Doctor meets Belinda Chandra and begins an epic quest to get her back to Earth. But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-traveling TARDIS team must face great dangers, bigger enemies and wider terrors than ever before.” 

Doctor Who Has A Really Fun Cast

Ncuti Gatwa is back as the Doctor! Stars joining him include Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. Previously announced guest cast includes Rose Ayling-Ellis, Christopher Chung, Anita Dobson, Michelle Greenidge, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruth Madeley, Jemma Redgrave and Susan Twist.
