He really doesn’t like this fame, and he’s not faking that either.

Amazingly, the story of Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- Ep. 19 “The 10th S-Rank Hunter” manages to be nearly on par with the action. Mostly due to this episode actually taking the time to build up the world around Jin-woo instead of just leaving it all a barely legible overview. We actually start to see what the world looks like, and even get promises of the world outside Korea for once. Oh, and Jin-woo shows off just a little bit more depth of personality here, mostly by deploying his summon-on-the-fly army to protect people he cares about. That does seem to indicate that he does care about their safety, which makes him a bit more likeable than most other power fantasy protagonists.

Alas though, the fight scenes are still the bread and butter of this anime. At least they’re still as great as always. Let’s jsut say that when Jin-woo heads back into that weird burning city dungeon, he finds time to take out creepy and/or epic creatures in style. Either that, or the new members of his Shadow Army does.

Of course, those fight scenes wouldn’t nearly be as good without the hard work of A-1 Pictures. Their animation team continues to make the fight scenes looks amazingly fluid, with action that’s very easy to follow and aesthetically quite pleasing. It does make me wonder at my own tastes when I’m watching this anime primarily for its fight scenes, but alas, that seems to be in vogue now with mainstream culture in general.

Yes, he really is trying to threaten someone who doesn’t work for him.

Funnily enough though, most of the action of Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- Ep. 19 “The 10th S-Rank Hunter” occurs in the final third of the episode. Everything before that is just Jin-wo trying to get his S-rank accreditation just to be able to sell valuable stuff without raising eyebrows. If you want more of that action, then might I suggest watching Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaKaiju No. 8DDDDDAN DA DANSword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II, and/or Zenshu. Those other anime series should have more than enough action to satisfy your inner action junkie, and have plenty of story and characters to make them even more interesting to boot.
