Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista says that he’d be open to returning to Marvel. But, there’s one big catch. ComicBook sat down with the Drax the Destroyer actor this week. Bautista revealed that he’s spoken with both James Gunn about DC movies. The former WWE Superstar has also talked to the Russo Brothers ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.

Bautista remains open to a DC role or returning to the MCU. While he’d love to be in another Russo Brothers film, it won’t be as Drax. That ship has sailed according to the actor. But, that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t roll back into another Marvel role if they thought up something good for him.

“Drax is completely closed to me. Unless James Gunn called me and asked if I would do something as Drax again, I just wouldn’t be interested,” Bautista recalled. “If James called me, which obviously is not gonna happen. He’s doing okay, he’s gone a different route.”

He added, “But I do wanna be in that world, I’m a fan of that world, I’m a fan of comic books and that whole universe. Marvel, DC, I just wanna be in it. I made that known to James, I made that known to the Russo brothers.”

“Personally, I talked to them, all of them, and told them, ‘Don’t count me out. If there’s a character that I’d be right for and that you want me for, man, I’d be totally open-minded to it.’ It’s just the Drax character ran its course,” Bautista concluded.

Familiar Faces Coming Back For Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday is rapidly approaching at this point. The trades reported that the movie begins filming pretty soon. The Russo Brothers are back in the fold. Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom. Empire Magazine asked the directors about their Marvel return last year. Apparently, inspiration just struck.

“We’re very close with Kevin and Lou [D’Esposito, Marvel Studios’ Co-President] and the entire Marvel team and we’ve had conversations through the years. We’ve talked about a lot of ideas,” Anthony Russo offered. “Really what happened was, we ended up stumbling upon an idea that activated all of us. You couldn’t see it coming until it came, and once it came it was like, ‘Well, that’s a story we need to tell.’”
