Legally Blonde has cast a new Elle Woods for the prequel series. Prime Video found Lexi Minetree for the role. Reese Witherspoon was so excited that she decided to help announce the news on her social media profile.
Witherspoon’s enthusiasm radiates off the screen in the video down below. Minetree and her new mentor are both dressed in outfits that Elle would personally approve. The Murdaugh Murders star won a nationwide casting call and now she’ll be playing the iconic role in the prequel from Prime video.
The actress wrote, “Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle. And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet @leximinetree”
Legally Blonde Is In The Middle Of A Renaissance
Legally Blonde has became a modern classic of sorts. Fans have been clamoring for a follow-up of some kinds for years now. Back in 2022, Witherspoon actually joined the calls for a Legally Blonde 3. She told USA Today that maybe they could revisit the franchise down the line. The actress looked towards Tom Cruise’s success in 2022 for a little bit of inspiration.
“It’s just like Top Gun: They waited a long time to make another version of that movie, and I loved the nostalgia piece they incorporated in it,” Witherspoon explained. “So definitely that gave us a lot of inspiration about what we would want to do with Elle Woods and make sure that we had all those same touchstones that mattered to people then.”
