Daredevil: Born Again’s showrunner explained why the reboot had to have Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. Dario Scardapane talked to Empire Magazine about the upcoming MCU series. Fans online are elated that Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll are back in the fold. The showrunner was adamant that Daredevil: Born Again needed to get the band back together.
“That was actually one of the first things I said to the bosses,” Scardapane argued. “You can’t do this show without Karen and Foggy. They’re Matt’s family. They’re the heart of his world. You can’t take them out without explaining why, and if that explanation doesn’t ring true, don’t take them out.”
“It was much less the world we knew, and more trying to blaze a new trail,” the showrunner added. “But, in doing so, they’d forgotten some things that really were necessary to the engine of the story.”
“I was willing to lose a job over this one,” Scardapane chuckled. “Because Season 3 of the Netflix show ended with a dream, with the names on that napkin. If you don’t pay that off, you’re not giving your characters context. You can’t ignore that dream.”
Daredevil: Born Again Bringing Back Familiar Faces
Daredevil: Born Again is a big deal for Marvel Studios. No one knows that more than Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum. He spoke to the Phase Hero podcast about Daredevil’s big return. He says that Karen and Foggy aren’t the only characters fans should be looking out for. Things don’t get real until Kingpin and Matt Murdock throw down.
“These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society’s changed,” Winderbaum added. “Matt and Wilson have changed. And, their characters are gonna collide in ways we’ve never seen before. It’s no longer enough to try and murder each other. There’s a whole game of politics at play.”
