Avatar: Fire And Ash revealed a new look at the Ash Tribe. Viewers were introduced to the Water Tribe during the franchise’s last movie. This time, Jake Sully and his family will have to contend with these colorful newcomers, Empire Magazine talked to Avatar: Fire And Ash‘s costume designer about The Wind Traders.” In the world of Pandora, they’re also known as the Tlalim Clan. David Thewlis plays the leader of their tribe.

“They’re upbeat, happy, colourful,” Avatar: Fire And Ash’s costume designer Deborah L. Scott says describing Peylak’s tribe. “And when they come into our movie, everyone’s excited to see them. It’s like the circus is in town.”

You can see from the images above that Chief Peylak’s garb is a bit different from other Na’vi tribes. There’s a distinct focus on the theatrical with the Ash Tribe. “Originally the cloak was a little more rugged, a little more rustic,” Scott continued. “But as all the clans developed, Jim [Cameron] said, ‘I just don’t think it’s grand enough.’ So I went back and reinvented it.”

With Avatar: The Way of Water being such a smash-hit at the box office, the hype for the next installment is basically a self-fulfilling prophecy. 20 Minutes talked to director James Cameron about his goals for Avatar 3. The filmmaker said that the “Ash People” are a critical part of the Na’vi story at this juncture. Everybody isn’t your friend. Maybe, they’re not your enemy either.

Cameron began, “In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters.

“I can say that the last parts will be the best,” he added. “The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal. But, obviously, everything will depend on how Avatar 2 is received, if it finds its audience.”
