The Sandman Showrunner Offers Comment
Showrunner Allan Heinberg is still targeting a 2025 release for the show. He told Variety, “The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season.”
Heinberg continued, “We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”
Neil Gaiman Accused of Sexual Assault
Social media locked into a discussion about the Gaiman allegations after the January 13 report. As more of the businesses partnering with the writer weighed in, more commentary surfaced. Dark Horse wanted to make sure they issued a statement about their working relationship with the Anansi Boys scribe.
On Twitter, the publisher wrote, “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works. Confirming that the Anansi Boys comic series and collected volume have been cancelled.”
Gaiman would deny the allegations on his personal blog. The writer said, “I was emotionally unavailable while being sexually available, self-focused and not as thoughtful as I could or should have been.”
He would say, “I’m not willing to turn my back on the truth, and I can’t accept being described as someone I am not, and cannot and will not admit to doing things I didn’t do.”
