Shudder’s “Dark Match” is getting ready for its streaming debut on January 31. This Shudder original blends horror with independent wrestling in the all-new feature film that stars Ayisha Issa, Chris Jericho, and Steven Ogg. The film explores the behind-the-scenes of independent wrestling and what happens when a gimmick goes too far.

A CHAT WITH THE DIRECTOR AND STAR

With the release of “Dark Match”, I spoke with director Lowell Dean and star Ayisha Issa about the film. In our conversation, Dean talks about his inspiration for the film. As well as how he made sure he created a realistic interpretation of what wrestlers in the independent circuit go through. Issa shared with us her experience in portraying a wrestler and how she got ready for the role. It was a great conversation that you can check out below!
