Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan will reteam for a new feature. And this time, they’re going all-in on supernatural horror with Sinners

According to the official synopsis, the film follows twin brothers (played by Jordan) who return to their hometown in an effort to leave their troubled lives behind. But they soon discover an even greater evil waits for them.

Warner Bros. released a new trailer for the film today, which adds a little added context to the plot. An ominous voiceover says, “There are legends of people with the gift of making music so true, it can conjure spirits from the past and the future. This gift can bring fame and fortune. But it also can pierce the veil between life and death.”

Check out the full second trailer for Sinners below.

Sinners comes from Academy Award-nominated writer/director Coogler (Black Panther, Creed). In addition to Jordan, the film’s cast also includes Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, True Grit), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari), Wunmi Mosaku (Passenger), Jayme Lawson (The Woman King), Omar Miller (True Lies), and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods).

Besides reuniting Jordan and Coogler, who worked together on both Black Panther and Creed, Sinners will see Coogler reteam with several other award-winning creatives behind the scenes. Director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, and Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who all worked on Black Panther, are on board for Sinners.

As for what the film holds for viewers, we’ll just have to wait and see. The promos offer just one more foreboding clue: “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.”

Sinners premieres nationwide in theaters April 18. Until then, check back to THS for more updates.
