Natalie Hershlag (known much more famously by her professional name of Natalie Portman) is one of the most famous actresses in the world. She started her career at the age of twelve in the action thriller film Léon: The Professional (1994), which most folks in the U.S. will know simply as The Professional.

Portman then continued her acting career with a 1998 Broadway production of The Diary of a Young Girl. From there, she would go on to star in some rather famous roles in films such as Closer (2004), V for Vendetta (2005), and Jackie (2016). She also made a name for herself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jane Foster in the Thor trilogy starting in 2011. More recently, Portman has started to make a name for herself as a director as well, starting with the short film Eve in 2008 and continuing with A Tale of Love and Darkness in 2015.

However, Star Wars fans will know Natalie Portman best for a different name: Padmé Amidala. Her role in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was the first to earn her international fame. This is the role we shall be focusing on today. Why, you might ask? Well, because of the rumors swirling around that she might be returning to that role.

Natalie Portman Reprising Role as Padmé Amidala: Rumor Details

Rumors are swirling around that Natalie Portman may be reprising her role as Padmé Amidala in Star Wars in the near future. The source of these rumors is YouTuber Kristian Harloff. In a YouTube podcast, he mentions hearing word that Dave Filoni is trying hard to get one specific character back. He mentions that it’s close to a signed deal and that it’s Padmé. All with his rationale being that it’s the next logical step after Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka season 1.

However, there’s a catch. Star Wars News Net (SWNN) then quickly rebuffed those rumors. According to them in a recent article, a source has confirmed that the above rumor is not accurate. As of this writing, Natalie Portman is not in negotiations to reprise her role as Padmé Amidala.

It all begs the question as to who Dave Filoni is trying to bring back then, if not Padmé? Perhaps it might be Obi-Wan Kenobi? Maybe it might even be Darth Maul? Heck, it might even be Jar Jar Binks as a bit of a joke. Regardless though, we will need to wait for Filoni to give us that bit of news at a later date.
