For those who love to watch as many awards season contenders as possible — or for those who just love to watch great movies — mark January 16 on your calendar. That’s when A Real Pain will officially make its streaming debut.
The film from Searchlight Pictures follows a pair of mismatched cousins, David and Benji (Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin), who reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when the pair’s old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.
In addition to starring, Eisenberg also wrote and directed the film.
Since its debut on the festival circuit last year, A Real Pain has raked up awards and widespread critical acclaim. It took home the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award Sundance, received three Critics Choice Award nominations, and was named one of AFI’s Top 10 movies of 2024. Recently, the feature landed four Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Eisenberg), and Best Screenplay. Culkin ultimately took home the award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
You can stream A Real Pain on Hulu starting January 16.
