Christopher Nolan’s next film has long been rumored and hidden under a shroud of mystery. Now, it appears that Universal Pictures has given us an indication of what it’ll be. Here’s the post they made to X/Twitter.

There were plenty of rumors about what the film would be including something involving a helicopter, vampires, and other outlandish ideas. Now we know what the story will be. His version of The Odyssey will star Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hatheway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong’o.

The Odyssey is an epic poem from the ancient Greek Homer. It tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca and his 10 year journey to return home after the Trojan War. It explores themes of heroism, loyalty, war, and the struggle against divine will. It’s a poem that nearly every high school student has to read and one of the foundational texts of storytelling. The tale includes encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe. All the while Odysseus is trying to get home to his wife Penelope, who fights off suitors thinking that he’s dead.

Christopher Nolan is writing and directing the film. The Odyssey has a release date of July 17th, 2026.
