There’s really no doubt that Wicked: Part One is a hit. A veritable hit from director Jon M. Chu, you might say. All you need to do is look at what critics and audiences are saying about the film to confirm that. For example: on Rotten Tomatoes alone, critics have given the film a solid 88% over 354 reviews, with audiences being even more generous with 95% over 25,000+ verified ratings. It really has left no doubt at all that the sequel will happen at some point in the future, and it will almost certainly be just as good. If not even better, really.
Funny about that: that sequel is the star of today’s story. Originally, the title of that sequel was just going to be Wicked: Part Two to complement Part One. As you can see by the title of this article though, that has now officially changed.
Wicked: Part Two to Wicked: For Good: Details
Variety has just reported that Universal Pictures has officially changed the title of Wicked: Part Two to Wicked: For Good. Alas, Universal Pictures does not offer any explanation for the title change. However, the new title does hint at what we’ll get to see in the sequel film. Unfortunately, the hint could mean any number of things at this point. We’ll just have to see what the new title ultimately means when the film finally hits theaters.
Alas, it will take a bit of a while before that happens. Wicked: For Good will make its theatrical debut on November 21, 2024. That’s over 11 months away as of this writing, so you’ll have a while to wait before we can see it. Fortunately, you can still see Wicked: Part One in theaters near you right now. Just purchase a ticket from Fandango, and you’ll be on the yellow brick road to theaters soon enough.
Tune back into THS to find out more about Wicked: For Good and other upcoming films when we do.
