Ever since it was announced that Season 5B of Yellowstone would mark the end of the series, fans have been speculating about the fate of their favorite characters. Rumors of a potential sixth season or spin-off have circulated for some time, and now, it seems we may finally have some answers. According to a new report from Variety, a Rip and Beth spin-off is in the works. While nothing has been officially confirmed by Paramount or series creator Taylor Sheridan, the prospect has already generated significant excitement. As more details emerge, you can count on That Hashtag Show to keep you updated.
What We Know About The Yellowstone Spin-off
Outside of the series being led by Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, there is little information at this time. However, given the hints dropped in the last few episodes of Yellowstone, it seems possible that the series might find the couple making the move to Texas. The latest episode featured Beth heading to Texas while browsing for ranch properties on the flight down. Also, given the personal connection series creator Taylor Sheridan has with Texas, the fit seems logical. Sheridan is the owner of The Four Sixes Ranch as well as Bosque Ranch. Both of which have featured prominently in Yellowstone.
It also seems entirely possible that many of the remaining characters from the flagship series could make the jump to the spin-off. Walker, Teeter, Jimmy, Carter, and others would be able to seamlessly make the move to Texas with Rip and Beth. Of course, nothing is official or being reported on this aspect. It is merely speculation based on what we’ve seen so far in the series.
Welcome News For Fans
The announcement of the spin-off will undoubtedly come as welcome news to fans of the series. The conclusion of Yellowstone with Season 5B was neither what audiences nor Paramount had anticipated. Speculation about the series’ future reached a fever pitch following recent promos that labeled the episode as the “season finale” rather than the “series finale.”
While it may not be the sixth season some fans had hoped for, this new spin-off is positioned as a spiritual successor to the original. Reports indicate that a sixth season was considered at one point, but ultimately, a new series was proposed to continue Yellowstone’s storyline. By introducing a new series, the show will remain within the Paramount ecosystem and its streaming platform, unlike the original series, whose streaming rights belong to Peacock. The new series is also expected to retain “Yellowstone” in its title, emphasizing its connection to the main storylines already established.
