Sakamoto Days is one of the oddest Shonen Jump manga in existence. It’s not just the often shocking levels of blood and violence committed often to hilarious levels of casualness, but it’s also the philosophical themes around killing and said violence. Complete with jaw-droppingly gorgeous and wild depictions of that violence. The manga often doesn’t even feel like a shonen manga in a lot of parts. More like a seinen manga, really. Clearly, mangaka Yuto Suzuki has created a unique story with their manga, and a popular one at that. After all, the manga has over 5.5 million copies in circulation as of August 2024, according to Comic Natalie. No matter how you look at it, it’s a very popular manga.
All of which explains why Sakamoto Days is getting an anime adaptation. An anime that will premiere exclusively on Netflix, no less. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the brand new official trailer Netflix just dropped for that anime below, and see for yourself if watching a middle-aged storekeeper pull off the most insane Acrofatic moves is your thing?
Sakamoto Days: Official Trailer Details
Netflix is proud to announce the upcoming anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days with their first official trailer on YouTube. Said trailer shows off the ludicrous and high quality animation of TMS Entertainment (Lupin the III, Detective Conan, Anpanman), which is the animation studio behind this anime. It also shows off the hard work of the team behind the anime, which includes Masaki Watanabe as the director, Taku Kishimoto as the writer, and Yuki Hayashi as the composer.
Fortunately, it won’t be long before we will be able to see the fruits of that hard work. Sakamoto Days will make its airing and streaming debut on January 11, 2025. Each new episode will premiere weekly after that, with a Part 2 of the first season scheduled to make its debut sometime in July 2025. As you might be able to guess, you can watch this anime only on Netflix.
Bonus: Key Art and Logline
That’s not all, folks! Netflix also the official logline for Sakamoto Days to further hype up the anime. You can read that logline below:

He started dating, retired, got married, and had a kid, growing overweight as a result. Though now working as a humble convenience store owner, the world of hitmen still follows him. Sakamoto, along with Shin, a young man with telepathy and an employee at his small store, will protect his humble life and family, or die trying.
