BLUE LOCK is one of the more peculiar anime series in existence. Mostly because of its choice of genres. Muneyuki Kaneshiro (As the Gods Will, Jagaaan) has chosen to the manga upon which the anime by Studio 8bit (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Shy) has been adapted from a sports thriller story. It’s an odd mix of genres, and one that produces some soccer/football games with some absurdly high stakes. And yet, this is such an engaging formula that IGN has described it as the “Squid Game” of sports anime.
All of which explains why the 2-episode finale of BLUE LOCK 2nd Season is getting so much hype from Crunchyroll. So much so that Crunchyroll have released not one, but two separate trailers for that finale. Each one depicting the different teams that will be facing off against each other in the soccer match of the century. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the two trailers back to back below, and see for yourself if this is still the soccer thriller anime for you?
BLUE LOCK 2nd Season: Finale Details
Crunchyroll is proud to announce the upcoming hour-long finale of BLUE LOCK 2nd Season via a pair of trailers on YouTube here and here. The purpose of these two trailers is to show off both teams before that inevitable finale. As well as showing off just how…intense they both are. So much so that some of their lines don’t seem to quite belong in a soccer game. At least, not in a legal basis.
Fortunately, it won’t be long until we get to see just how nuts both teams are. BLUE LOCK 2nd Season will make its simulcast debut on December 28, 2024 at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET. Just like the rest of the second season though, you can watch this finale only on Crunchyroll.
