Good news for Bay Area cinema fans. Alamo Drafthouse plans to open two new theaters there in the first half of 2025.
Locals can watch out for Alamo Drafthouse Mountain View and Alamo Drafthouse Westfield Valley Fair. Both locations will take over spaces from ShowPlace ICON. Drafthouse plans to update the theaters with their standard premium reclining leather seats and revamped culinary and bar experiences. Each theater will also get immersive themes and decor unique to their location.
Mountain View and Westfield Valley Fair join the Drafthouse’s existing presence in the area; the New Mission theater opened back in 2015.
“By 2025 we’ll have been in San Francisco for 10 years, and this feels like the perfect way to celebrate the decade of support and enthusiasm we’ve received from Bay Area film fans,” said CEO Michael Kusterman. “It’s an area we love that has shown us a lot of love back, and we’re thrilled to be able to expand and provide our unique experience to more people.”
