More About Wicked

Wicked is a film adaptation of the highly popular Broadway musical. The musical itself is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West”. The story reimagines the world of “The Wizard of Oz” from the perspective of the witches of Oz. It primarily focuses on the relationship between Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (the Good Witch).

The film has been in development for several years and is being produced by Universal Pictures. Jon M. Chu, known for his work on “Crazy Rich Asians,” is directing the film. The cast features Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.

The project is notable for its ambitious scope, with plans for a two-part film adaptation to capture the rich story and themes of friendship, acceptance, and the complexities of good and evil presented in both the musical and the source material.
