“Based on a True Story” returned to Peacock for a second season this week. We now find Ava and Nathan played by Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina, dealing with not only a murderer, but also their baby. Just like the first season things go off the rails as new murders start popping up, and Tory and Matt may be a thing.

CATCHING UP WITH THE SHOWRUNNER

With the release of the second season of “Based on a True Story”, I spoke Michael Costigan. He an executive producer on the series. During our conversation we talked about expanding the wild world of the series. Costigan noted that both Kaley and Messina had never met each other prior to the series and how that influenced the possibilities going forward in this season.

We also talk about the Ava and Nathan’s evolving role now as parents and how that will shift things. Finally Costigan teases what we can expect from the new addition to the cast Melissa Fumero.

ABOUT SEASON 2 OF “BASED ON A TRUE STORY”

Season two finds new parents Ava and Nathan Bartlett three months into parenthood. Focused on taking care of her family, Ava is determined to resist her true crime obsession and return to work as a real estate agent while Nathan trains private tennis clients. But a series of new murders pulls her back in – is Matt behind the slayings? Is Tory, now entangled in a relationship with Matt, in danger? For a while, life is good — Ava’s TikTok habit and her new friend Drew provide a welcome distraction, and Nathan’s all in on reigniting his tennis career as well as his friendship with Matt — until danger comes knocking, literally.

“Based on a True Story” Season 2 kicks off Thursday, November 21st exclusively on Peacock.
