If you can’t get enough Inside Out, Disney revealed some good news for you today. The world of Riley’s emotions is expanding with a new Disney+ TV series, Dream Productions.
The spinoff series will explore Riley’s mind through her dreams — and her inner “movie studio” that helps create those dreams. Check out the trailer for Dream Productions below.
Pixar originally made a splash with Inside Out in 2015. The animated feature took fans on a journey inside the mind of a young girl, Riley, and explored her inner conflict by personifying her core emotions as individual characters. The film won Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, and ultimately led to a sequel film, which released earlier this year.
Dream Productions will take place in between the events of Inside Out and Inside Out 2. So, the new crew of emotions introduced in the sequel (Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment) won’t appear in the series. However, Riley’s original emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust) will play a role. But the main characters leading the series will be those working in Riley’s inner dream studio, like Paula Persimmon (Paula Pell) and Xeni (Richard Ayoade).
Returning voice cast members from the Pixar films include Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Kensington Tallman, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, and Liza Lapira.
Dream Productions is a four-episode limited series. It will premiere on Disney+ on December 11. In the meantime, you can also stream both Inside Out films on the platform.
