Josh O’Connor has had a very interesting film career despite his tender age of 34. It’s a career that began relatively soon after this British actor graduated from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2011. At first, it was merely supporting roles in Doctor Who in 2013, and then in Peaky Blinders in 2014. His career then really took off with his first lead role playing sheep farmer Johnny Saxby in God’s Own Country (2017), which also won him a British Independent Film Awards in the process.

Since then, Josh O’Connor has starred in numerous roles. From the Netflix drama series The Crown in 2019-2020 (which also won him a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award) to the period drama Emma in 2020 to the romantic sports film Challengers (2024), O’Connor has seen a pretty successful career. You only need look at the sheer number of awards he has gotten to confirm that.

So why this filmography of Josh O’Connor, you might ask? Well, it’s all to explain why a certain very famous film director wants him to star in his next film. Have you ever heard of someone named Steven Spielberg, by any chance?

Untitled Steven Spielberg Film: Josh O’Connor Details

Josh O'Connor in The Crown

Variety has just broken the news that Josh O’Connor has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg‘s currently untitled upcoming film. Apparently, O’Connor will join the star ensemble for this unnamed film, which includes Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Coleman Domingo, and Eve Hewson as part of that cast. Sadly, that’s all the news we have on that cast for now. We don’t even know who they will be playing, including for O’Connor. We will just have to wait for that bit of news at a later date.

Alas, we also don’t know what this new film from Steven Spielberg is about. We don’t even know what the title is. All we know is that it has a theatrical debut date of May 15, 2026 from Universal Pictures, and that’s it. Hopefully, we will get more details as they pop up later.

Tune back in to THS to find out more about this untitled Steven Spielberg film and other films when we do.
