DC Studios’ Lanterns is shaping up to be quite the TV series. The new show is coming to HBO and stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. According to Deadline, they’ll be joined by Garret Dillahunt (Fear The Walking Dead, Hysteria!) for a major recurring role. The series comes from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. It follows new Lantern Corps. recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Dillahunt’s role has been revealed as modern cowboy William Macon, a self-righteous, conspiracy-minded man who mask his ruthless ambition behind a charming and calculated facade. The eight-episode series is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. Chris Mundy serves as showrunner with Lindelof and King co-writing and executive producing.

Dillahunt was most recently seen in Peacock’s Hysteria!, where he played a similar sounding role of a self-righteous preacher hunting down teenagers that have “found Satan”.
