DAN DA DAN Ep. 4 “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass” kicks this anime into high gear with a boss fight against the titular Turbo Granny. However, this crabby old spirit isn’t fighting alone. Apparently, she has an ally of epic proportions. All entirely historically, of course. After all, Sony did insist that giant enemy crabs are historically accurate.

DAN DA DAN Ep. 4 “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass”: Synopsis

DAN DA DAN Ep. 4 “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass”: The Good
If you too have watched DAN DA DAN Ep. 4 “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass”, then you too will likely also agree that the animation is the best part of this episode. Science SARU just did a magnificent job with that animation. The action scenes are so fluid that it makes you forget reality for a moment, and the scenes are just gorgeous in general. All emphasized by an eerie, blood-red light that bathes many of the scenes in horror. That’s how you know things are going pear-shaped for Momo and Okarun.
Speaking of which: Momo and Okarun’s dynamic is a big part of why the story is the second best thing about this episode. Yukinobu Tatsu does a pretty good job writing a good romcom dynamic between them. Not only that, but kudos for him writing them as an equal relationship in this dynamic to boot. Both of them complement what each other lacks. Momo is clearly the plan-maker here, while Okarun provides the muscle. That’s not to say that Okarun is dumb, but he lacks the initiative and drive that Momo does. Thus, this battle is the product of both of their efforts, which furthers that relationship between them to boot.
DAN DA DAN Ep. 4 “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass”: The Bad
Honestly, DAN DA DAN Ep. 4 “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass” has it all here. From cute romcom during slice of life scenes to epic and high-intensity shonen action, this episode has everything you could ever want in an anime. That said, this episode’s action isn’t particularly bloody. It’s more on the horror and comedy side rather than on the side of bloody gore. If you want the latter, then might I suggest Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, Kaiju No. 8, and/or DDDD? Those anime series has more than enough blood and gore if you want that in your anime.
