This week marks the release of Paramount Pictures highly anticipated TRANSFORMERS ONE. Even though this film takes us back to when Optimus Prime and Megatron were brothers-in-arms; fans including myself were worried because we were getting our first major film without the voices of Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) and Frank Welker (Megatron). Well, thanks to Paramount Pictures I was able to get an early screening of the film and on top of that I have seen it again since it came out and I’ll say this, you will not be disappointed.
Transformers One
TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, TRANSFORMERS ONE features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, with Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm.
Transformers One Is A Must-See
First, I am not trying to do a review here because we have seen enough of them. This is more of what the film did for me and how it made my love for the Transformers even stronger. Like a lot of us, I grew up with the Transformers. I can’t tell you how many times I watched each episode but it was a lot. I also remember when THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE came out. From seeing Unicron’s power and the death of Optimus Prime, there was so much excitement and heartbreak in the film that it kept you on the edge of your seat. But even with the death of our fearless leader the Autobots came out on top and the Transformers always remained a part of my life.
So why am I bringing this up? We have had a lot of Transformers options over the years. From new animated series to blockbuster live-action movies, they just keep rolling out. While these have been enjoyable there was just something different about TRANSFORMERS ONE. Not only was it enjoyable it made me feel like a kid again.
The Transformers Are In Good Hands
I was hooked. This was the Transformers story we didn’t know we wanted. I found myself lost in the moments from enjoying Orion Pax and D-16 (later to be Optimus Prime and Megatron) early relationship to when you could see the change in D-16. On top of an amazing story, there were so many easter eggs you couldn’t help but think about all the Transformers movies. This movie grabbed me in the same way THE TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE did. Some may laugh, but I left the theater with a huge smile on my face and some tears in my eyes as I thought about this film and remembered all the great Transformers times in my past. Oh yeah, there is a fun jab at the GO BOTS in the film as well.
So look, do yourself a favor and go see TRANSFORMERS ONE, you will not be disappointed. Chris Hemsworth (Orion Pax), Brian Tyree Henry (D-16), Scarlett Johansson (Elita-1), Keegan-Michael Key (B-127), Steve Buscemi (Starscream), with Laurence Fishburne (Alpha Trion), and Jon Hamm (Sentinel Prime) did an amazing job and I believe the franchise is in good hands.
