DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 14 is one of the most chaotic episodes of this anime yet. There’s just so many things happening all at once that it gets a bit hectic even to keep up with the story. The most notable thing you can take away from this episode is: violence. Blood and gore too. There’s just so much of them here. I don’t think action junkies will have any problem with this episode.

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 14 is the 15th episode (you can read my reviews of Ep. 0, Ep. 1, Ep. 2, Ep. 3, Ep. 4, Ep. 5, Ep. 6, Ep. 7, Ep. 8, Ep. 9, Ep. 10, Ep. 11, Ep. 12, and Ep. 13 here) of this science fiction slice-of-life anime series. Said anime is the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Inio Asano (Solanin, Goodnight Punpun). Said anime also originally premiered as a pair of anime films on March 22, 2024, and May 24, 2024. Production +h. (The Orbital Children) is the animation studio behind this anime. Crunchyroll is the company licensing this anime for its worldwide debut.

Alas, we have no idea who exactly is behind DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 14. For the anime as a whole, we do still know that Tomoyuki Kurokawa (PSYCHO-PASS) is the director. Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden) is the writer. Takaaki Suzuki (Violet Evergarden series) did the world setting. Nobutake Ito (INU-OH) is the chief animation director and character designer. Satoshi Takezawa (Digimon Adventure) is the color designer. Mika Nishimura (Typhoon Noruda) is the art director. Satoi Inami is the CG director. Takuma Morooka (Moriarty the Patriot) is the cinematographer. Masayuki Kurosawa (Laid-Back Camp) is the editor. Takeshi Takadera ([Oshi no Ko]) is the sound director. Taro Umebayashi (Space Dandy) is the composer responsible for the music.

Speaking of the music: the opening theme song is “Shinsekai Yori” (SHINSEKAIより, lit. ’ From the New World’) by Ano and Lilas Ikuta. This time though, “Seishun Ōka” (青春謳歌, lit. ’ Adolescence Hymn’) by Lilas Ikuta feat. Ano is the new ending theme song for this second part.

Voice Cast

DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 14 features the voice of Saori Ōnishi (Kazumi Evans in English dub) as Hikari Sumaru and Koki Uchiyama (Graham Hamilton in English dub) as Kenichi Kohiruimaki. The other notable voice role in this episode is Kengo Kawanishi (Bill Newton in English dub) as Tarō Miura.

They may not be good under any definition of it, but they seem to be shockingly right on one point.

Hoo boy, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 14 was definitely a wild ride, and that is the primary reason why it’s the best part of this episode. There’s just so much going on. Starting with the main characters not even appearing at all in this episode, to a massive firefight and bombing raid resulting in genocide going on, action junkies won’t be left wanting here. Heck, there’s even an intense close range knife fight and gun fu sequence. Seriously, this episode has everything in terms of action. Inio Asano is utterly defying the previous slice of life segments of the story, and it’s gone full Independence Day now. Once you go full Independence Day, you don’t go back.

Complementing that story is the animation, but for a far different reason than in most previous episodes. Production +h. are still providing quality animation as before, but now for an entirely different genre of anime. As it turns out, they’re also good at animating military science fiction and action thriller story, too. Just as good as their slice of life segments before. Seriously, the blood spray is disturbingly realistic, regardless of whether it’s coming from aliens or humans.

You can tell just from that face that there is something inherently wrong with this guy, even ignoring the blood splatters.

Funnily enough, DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 14 might be a bit too intense for fans of slice of life. Thus, perhaps you might wish to enjoy something more relaxing after this? If so, then perhaps you might wish to check out Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF, Senpai is an Otokonoko, or My Deer Friend Nokotan? Those are quite fluffy anime for you to chill to.
