Motherhood is a bitch (pun intended). And this new feature from Searchlight Pictures plans to make you realize it like never before. Nightbitch stars Amy Adams as a woman who pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mom. But soon her new domesticity soon takes a surreal turn.
Nightbitch comes from writer/director Marielle Heller. Though the film’s logline keeps things simple, we do know the story comes from the 2021 novel by Rachel Yoder. The book follows a woman struggling with the complications of motherhood: messy hormones and body changes, feeling disconnected from her former self and purpose, and a heaping helping of “mom guilt” and worry that she’s somehow doing everything wrong.
Oh, and she also begins to suspect she’s slowly transforming into a dog. So you know, just the usual problems.

In addition to Adams, the film also stars Scoot McNairy, Arleigh Patrick Snowden, Emmett James Snowden, Zoë Chao, Mary Holland, Archana Rajan, and Jessica Harper.
There seems to be a little uncertainty as to when Nightbitch will debut. Though a previously released poster indicated a fall release, Searchlight’s website still says December 6. This latest trailer and poster simply say “December”. So, check back to THS to pin down the exact premiere for this one in the coming months.
